The Antiracism Task Force and Environmental Justice Subcommittee invite you to a virtual prayer service for St. Kateri Tekakwitha, the patron saint of Native Americans and the Environment, on the 17th of July from 2:00-4:00PM (Zoom Access can be found below). In honor of St. Kateri, the event will focus upon raising awareness of a) the Native American experience within Maryland and Catholicism, b) local environmental justice issues, and c) discerning how you can support efforts in these arenas going forward.
These are complex issues that cannot be covered by a single prayer service – so the Task Force and Environmental Justice Subcommittee invite you to perform research ahead of time, and/or watch the following items:
St. Kateri and Native American Catholics [8 minutes]
Baltimore is burning trash, so we’re starving the fire [7 minutes]
St. Kateri’s actual Feast Day is July 14th – and we also invite you to consider performing a litter pilgrimage near that date as well!
