This week’s Poor Box is designated for the Kino Border Initiative – a binational organization that works in the area of migration and is located in Nogales, Arizona and Nogales, Sonora, Mexico. The KBI helps make humane, just, workable migration between the U.S. and Mexico a reality. It’s mission is to promote US/Mexico border and immigration policies that affirm the dignity of the human person and a spirit of bi-national solidarity. The St Ignatius Justice and Peace Immigration Subcommittee is working with KBI by raising funds to facilitate the construction of a new facility that will exponentially enhance their ability to fulfill their mission. This includes approximately tripling the size of the dining area, doubling the safe sleeping facilities for women and children, designating offices and spaces specifically for legal consultations, providing healthcare and spiritual well-being, and other pressing needs.
To contribute, the Poor Boxes are located in the Chapel of Grace and in the Narthex of the church at the top of both side stairs. – Thank you for your kind generosity.
