Second Week of Advent

Advent has been and still is the most tortured of liturgical seasons. We have argued about whether the color is violet, purple, or blue. Why and whether the third week is pink or rose. It’s been hijacked by Wall Street and capitalists as an unnecessary season because Americans have a civic duty to overspend. The Church has not catechized the faithful that Christians are the Messianic Jews who grew into a world religion to acknowledge the initial revelation of The Advent of God into the world. The readings encourage us to rededicate our efforts to this messianic consciousness.
