Second Sunday of Lent

People utilize Lent for all sorts of mixed motives. Lent may be the season to jump start New Year’s Resolutions. It may be that time of year to reignite prayer, to revitalize relationships, to lose weight, to avoid chocolate, give up whiskey, end the salty language, and get away from the internet. But that’s not the real reason for Lent.  Lent is the time for believers to reflect on the passion and death of Jesus Christ, the great sacrifice, his choice to offer his life as a ransom for us and our sins, how he suffered, died and was buried.
