Minutes of the St. Ignatius Pastoral Council

7:00 PM — July 13th, 2020 

Virtual Meeting via Zoom

Present: Father Casciotti, Ted Engelke, Ryan Bixler, Joe Hillery, Vonetta Edwards, Len Heckwolf, Barbara Lazatti, Kate Walsh, and Andrew Lacovara 

  1. Opening Prayer
  • Vonetta opened with prayer.
  1. Acceptance of the Minutes from June 2020 Meeting      
  • The Minutes from the June 2020 meeting were accepted.                                                                                                                    
  1. Pastors Report 
  • First Communion on 7/12/2020 went well.
  • The elevator is still in progress.
  • Finance Commitee meets next Monday and we are looking at being ahead of where we were at this time last year.
  • There has been good feedback on the virtual mass. 
  • Father Casciotti is following up with John on the click rate for the how many people are viewing the racial justice information.

V. New Business

  1. Racial Justice and Policing Reform
    1. Awareness Task Force
  • The two racial advocacy groups had their first meeting and will meet again next month.

  • Still looking to get the ears of Brandon Scott.
  • It was suggested we get a Twitter account.
  1. Partnering with St. Vincents
  • We thought that Father Casciotti should navigate this and we support his decision on how he thinks we should approach the dialogue.
  • This Sunday there is a two hour Zoom call with the Women of the New Testament.
  1. Archdiocesan PC Minutes
    1. Maryland Catholic Conference (MCC) Update
  • The Archdiocesan document seemed to be a little lost in time or distant from the current situation. 
  1. NONES and how to retain parishioners 
  2. Other
  • We were thinking about sending out a survey for young adults. The current ministry is on hiatius given the current pandemic.
  • There was discussion about setting up a Twitter account for the Church to attract younger people.

  • There was discussion if Father Casciotti should wear a face shield when giving Communion at mass.
