Extreme weather events such as floods, storms, heatwaves, and drought are displacing 41 people every minute. Over 70% of refugees come from the most climate-vulnerable countries.
The Environmental Justice Committee invites you to hear Clara Sayans, the Outreach Officer from Jesuit Refugee Service/USA, who will share her knowledge and experience of how climate change, especially lack of water, is forcing people to leave their country in search of resources and support and ways to help.
The Jesuit Refugee Service (JRS) is an international Catholic organization with a mission to accompany, serve, and advocate on behalf of refugees and other forcibly displaced persons, that they may heal, learn, and determine their own future. Clara will join us after the 10:00 a.m. mass during hospitality. After the presentation, there will be time for Q&A.
