An event every month that begins at 7:00 pm on day Third of the month, repeating until April 20, 2021
Meets on the 3rd Tuesday of every month except December.
For the February 16, 2021, meeting, Women Who Stay will continue studying Enfleshing Freedom: body, race, and being by M. Shawn Copeland, an award-winning African American feminist theologian. It is available from the publisher, Fortress Press, and Amazon. We are proceeding with the 1st edition because the date for publication of the 2nd edition is uncertain. We will discuss Chapter 2, but don’t hesitate to join us if you haven’t yet obtained the book or finished the reading.
We’ll also discuss our collaboration with Root & Branch (www.rootandbranchsynod.org) members in their work to seek equality and shared governance and ministry in the Catholic Church. Root & Branch is hosting a virtual synod in Bristol, England, in September 2021. The synod itself is planned as preparation for an actual pilgrimage to Rome in March 2022, for which groups from Canada, Australia, India, Pakistan, Kenya, South Africa and most countries in Europe have signed on, but as yet none from the United States. We hope that our Women Who Stay ministry will be the first to do so. We encourage everyone who shares the goal, or seeks to understand the goal, of equality and shared governance and ministry in the church, to visit the Root & Branch website. Talks by previous speakers have been recorded and are available on the site under the tab “Past Guests.” Begin with the powerful talk by James Carroll.
If you are not already on the e-mailing list for Women Who Stay and wish to receive a Zoom invitation to the January meeting, please contact Dusty Lidinsky (firstname.lastname@example.org).
