Women Who Stay
January 19, 2021 @ 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm
For the January 19, 2021, meeting, Women Who Stay will begin studying Enfleshing Freedom: body, race, and being by M. Shawn Copeland, an award-winning African American feminist theologian. It is available from the publisher, Fortress Press, and Amazon. We are proceeding with the 1st edition because the date for publication of the 2nd edition is uncertain. We’ll discuss the Introduction and Chapter 1, but don’t hesitate to join us if you haven’t yet obtained the book or finished the reading.
We’ll also discuss how we can collaborate with Root & Branch (www.rootandbranchsynod.org) members in their work to seek equality and shared governance and ministry in the Catholic Church. Root & Branch is hosting a virtual synod in Bristol, England, in September 2021. The synod itself is planned as preparation for an actual pilgrimage to Rome in March 2022, for which groups from Canada, Australia, India, Pakistan, Kenya, South Africa and most countries in Europe have signed on, but as yet none from the United States. Will we?
If you are not already on the e-mailing list for Women Who Stay and wish to receive a Zoom invitation to the January meeting, please contact Dusty Lidinsky (email@example.com).
