One familiar sign waved by spectators at sports events in hopes that television cameras will transmit their message is: “John 3:16.” A favorite of many Christians, this verse states: “God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him may not perish but have eternal life.” Another favorite is John 3:7. I’m not going to tell you what it is. You can look it up. I find these single verses during football games an interesting diversion during a time out. I presume they are still around, but they are not pointed out as much by engineers.
